I have witnessed friends and acquaintances even sacrifice all three to make their business successful. Sure, I’m empathetic to the dedication, time and energy that executives, CEOs and entrepreneurs invest in their careers and businesses. I feel the pressure myself being a small business owner; going to bed thinking about PGPT and waking up thinking about PGPT is a regular occurrence. However, I have never let my health nor family take a back seat to building my business.

When you have staff that rely on you for a wage every month and clients that deservedly expect results, the buck starts and stops with me. It is when stress has been particularly high that I have really needed to spend extra time focusing on health. When long days and a lack of sleep start to become a regular occurrence then that is generally when something needs to give. I urge you, PLEASE! Do not let your health and wellness be the first thing to go. Exercise, mindset, nutrition is pivotal to your overall happiness and success.

The advice I give at this time is to become really self-aware of the good habits, routines and workouts you need to be doing so that you not only avoid the self-destruct mode but that you can truly achieve success in all areas of your life.

I start recording what I am eating to make myself aware of what I am missing or doing wrong (i.e. skipping meals or buying chocolate bars etc). Then I go back to what I was taught from my sporting days – the power of affirmation and visualisation. To have a clear path and understanding of what I need to be doing to feel healthy, fit, strong and of course successful.

I know that if exercise stops then my health will go downhill and you know what happens then; a decrease in productivity with my work. It is when this lack of productivity kicks in that there can be a huge drop of motivation which can lead to an onset of depression.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that if your career or business is not top priority that you are not successful. Focus on being a healthy leader and investing quality time in all your relationships. You may be at your desk for a few less hours a week but you will look and feel much better about yourself in the long run.

Success in health,
Pete
